Grammy Award-winner Slide Hampton is a masterly arranger and gifted trombone player whose career spans decades in the evolution of jazz. At the age of 12 he was already touring the Midwest with his family. By the age of 20 he was performing at Carnegie Hall with the Hampton Band. In 2005, the National Endowment for the Arts honored him with its highest honor in jazz, the NEA Jazz Masters Award.
